Empower your community while gaining valuable organizational and communication skills! The Latino Community Association (LCA) Tax Program provides free tax preparation services to low-income, working families and individuals in Central Oregon. As a Tax Program Intake volunteer, you will support the LCA Tax Program by assisting with document collection, scanning, and filing. You’ll educate clients on the required documents for tax preparation and communicate with them when their taxes are ready for pick-up. This position is ideal for someone interested in developing client service and administrative skills while making a meaningful impact in the community.
This position requires in-person training on January 23, 2026 from 9:00 am- 12:00 pm in our Bend office. In this training, you will learn the procedures for document collection, scanning, and filing. You will also receive an overview of client confidentiality protocols and client communication best practices.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Greet clients and collect required tax documents in a compassionate and respectful manner.
- Educate clients on what documents they need for tax preparation.
- Scan and file tax documents accurately and securely.
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained and filed for each client.
- Communicate with clients when their tax returns are ready for pick-up.
- Assist with organizing and managing documents for the tax program.
- Maintain client confidentiality and follow established protocols.
- 3-month minimum.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- No prior tax knowledge or experience is required.
- Organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and punctual.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy when working with underserved communities.
- Ability to work with computers and office equipment for scanning and filing.
