We’re excited to share that LCA is launching monthly volunteer orientations to make it easier than ever to get involved and stay connected!

Our virtual volunteer orientation schedule:

Each Orientation is from 12:00–1:00 PM, via Zoom. An email with the Zoom link will be sent within a week before the orientation. If you have not received the meeting information. Please email us at volunteer@latca.org.

We are seeking committed, self-motivated individuals to join our board of directors. We ask that board members be willing to serve for a minimum of three years. Our board members help provide overall direction for the organization, prioritize our services and make policy decisions about significant changes to our direction and focus. You are asked to utilize your social and professional networks to make people aware of LCA's work and how they can get involved to support our mission through volunteering, partnering and/or donating.  Finally, board members keep an eye on our finances and make sure we have the resources we need to carry out our plans and reach our service goals all within the laws that govern our work.

Our board currently meets a minimum of four times a year. Board members are asked to support one of our committees in between board meetings. Our committees include: Governance, Finance, Fundraising, Events and Advocacy.

The time commitment is typically 5-6 hours each quarter, or 2-3 hours per month. There is nor set amount our board members are asked to donate to the organization, but we do ask every board member to make a financial contribution that is meaningful to him or her.

Are interested in donating their time in order to help LCA clients learn and in the classroom setting.Who understand our mission and vision and align with both (read it here).Have the ability to be trained/coached to strive for a shared understanding on what concepts work, what techniques are proven, and how to best meet clients where they are in their journey to learning English.Are open to collaboration and critique.Have a schedule that permits at least 1.5-3 hours a week of dedication to teaching a specific class (depending on what is decided upon by the volunteer and the Workforce Education Coordinator) and for at least 10 weeks at a time (the usual length of a semester).Depending upon the level being taught, teachers need at least a general understanding of the Spanish Language (for advanced students) and are preferably bilingual (for beginner level students).Can be flexible in resources available, location of the class, and understand that we are a non-profit organization whereas resources are not as abundant as our counterparts in adult education institutions).No prior experience required.Have fun teaching their own class.

Volunteer: Rapid Response Network / Red de Respuesta Rápida

LCA is establishing a Rapid Response Network (RRN) of trained volunteers to monitor and respond to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in Central Oregon. Volunteers will provide real-time information, support impacted community members, and mobilize in protest when necessary. LCA is establishing a Rapid Response Network (RRN) of trained volunteers to monitor and respond to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in Central Oregon. Volunteers will provide real-time information, support impacted community members, and mobilize in protest when necessary. Please sign up to receive an email every month with all our public advocacy trainings available to all our volunteers and allies.
